SpaceX went public on Nasdaq under ticker SPCX,
selling 555.6 million shares at $135 each to raise $75 billion—the largest IPO
ever.
Shares surged 19% to close at $160.95, boosting the
market cap past $2.1 trillion and making Elon Musk the world's first
trillionaire with his stake worth about $800 billion.
The windfall reached over 4,400 employees and
ex-employees, including launch engineer Trevor Hise whose shares hit $13.5
million after 12 years, plus cafeteria staff and even a welder who switched to
Blue Origin.
While Wall Street celebrated the milestone
amid Falcon rocket innovations and Mars ambitions, some voiced concerns over
wealth gaps.
