SpaceX aims
to launch Northrop Grumman's Mission Robotic Vehicle (MRV-1) and three Mission
Extension Pods on a Falcon 9 from 5:15 p.m. ET today, targeting geosynchronous
transfer orbit.
The MRV-1,
equipped with robotic arms, cameras, and sensors, will inspect, repair, refuel,
and extend the lives of client satellites in geostationary orbit, with the pods
adding up to six years for Intelsat and Optus spacecraft.
This second Falcon 9 flight of the day uses booster B1069 on its record-tying 32nd mission, highlighting reusability while paving the way for routine on-orbit servicing to cut debris and boost efficiency.
