Dr. David Silverstein, Moi's Longtime Cardiologist, Dies at 82

The American-born cardiologist arrived in Kenya in 1974 and pioneered cardiac care by establishing Kenyatta National Hospital’s first catheterization lab.

He served as Moi’s personal physician from 1983 onward, chronicling his experiences in the memoir *Heartbeat: An American Cardiologist in Kenya*.

Gideon Moi and President William Ruto paid tribute to his empathy, compassion, and lasting contributions to the nation’s medicine, with family and officials confirming his passing on Sunday.
