Five Killed in Head-On Crash on Nakuru-Nairobi Highway

The collision near Kikopey in Gilgil, Nakuru County, around 11pm on September 13, 2026, involved a Toyota IST carrying six people and an Easy Coach bus, killing all five from the private car—including two adult women, two juveniles, and the driver.

No one on the bus was hurt, and police commander Winston Mwakio confirmed the details as bodies went to Gilgil mortuary.

Relative James Wegesa, who lost his wife and daughter, shared his grief: “I just had a small family... I am left alone.” Preliminary reports suggest dangerous overtaking by the bus, amid ongoing road safety worries on the highway.
