Gachagua Tells Ruto: 55 Million Kenyans Are Your Real Opposition

In a pointed X post on September 16, 2026, former Deputy President Gachagua rejected Ruto's focus on Uhuru as a deflection, listing grievances like raided payslips, youth abductions, church defilements, business closures, medicine shortages, and soaring living costs.

He declared all 55 million Kenyans as Ruto's opponents, from workers to children, and urged the president to prepare handover notes ahead of the August 10, 2027 election.

Gachagua, now leading the Democracy for Citizens Party after his 2024 impeachment, hinted at a unified opposition candidate soon, citing a recent Olkalou by-election as a momentum shift amid polarized crowds and deepening political rifts.
