Huawei
pulled forward the Ascend 960DT training chip to Q1 2027 and the 960PR
inference chip to Q3 2027, both doubling performance over prior generations
with boosts in memory and speed.
They also launched the Atlas 960 SuperPoD, the first system using near-packaged optics to link up to 4,096 chips for massive 10-trillion-parameter AI models.
This strategy focuses on large-scale clusters to bypass U.S. export limits, building on over 1,000 shipped Ascend 910C units and supporting China's self-sufficiency drive amid growing domestic competition.
