Iran Suspends Flights to Neighbors After U.S. Aviation Sanctions

Iran halted flights to Baghdad in Iraq and Muscat in Oman, with further restrictions in Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Qatar, as its Civil Aviation Authority responded to the U.S. measures targeting fuel, landing rights, and ticketing.

Security chief Mohsen Rezaei warned that neighbors complying with the sanctions could face reciprocal airport closures, urging them to stay neutral.

Several countries like Azerbaijan confirmed suspending Iranian carriers from September 22 to avoid U.S. penalties, while some routes to China, Armenia, and parts of the UAE continue operating amid the disruptions.
