Thousands
of Gikuyu, Embu, and Meru elders gathered in Kiambu County on September 19 to
endorse Kindiki as spokesperson for Kenya's Mt. Kenya region, rejecting past
calls to divide it into East and West blocs.
Public Service CS Geoffrey Ruku returned a ceremonial axe to symbolize unity, while elders tasked him with promoting it and shared reconciliation goats among communities.
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua called the event proof that division efforts failed, but Kindiki focused on the honor and vowed to stay on mission ahead of 2027 elections.
