Oil Prices Top $100 as Middle East Conflict Disrupts Supplies

Brent crude futures hit $100.07 in early trading, up 2.2 percent, while U.S. WTI climbed 1.8 percent toward $94.70, amid Iranian tanker strikes, Houthi attacks on Saudi facilities, and snarls in the Strait of Hormuz.

The conflict, now seven months old, has cut flows through key routes and reversed summer price dips, with analysts raising forecasts and warning of rising fuel costs and inflation. Prices have jumped over 40 percent since early July, erasing hopes for quick de-escalation.
