Pakistan Pledges to Activate Mecca Defense Pact After Houthi Drone Near Mecca

In a TV interview, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif stressed Pakistan's commitment to the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement, signed in August, which treats an attack on one member as an attack on all.

He affirmed that protecting holy sites like Mecca is a religious duty, with or without the pact, and offered tactical and diplomatic backing if tensions rise.

The pact remains in early stages with unclear activation details, amid Saudi reports of intercepting the drone and broader Houthi strikes on the kingdom.
