House confirmed a Russian representative will join the September 14–16 energy
abundance summit in Texas, alongside U.S. officials like Interior Secretary
Doug Burgum and Energy Secretary Chris Wright.
This marks another in-person Russian attendance at a G20 event since the 2022 Ukraine invasion, following Finance Minister Anton Siluanov’s visit last month.
Critics online decried the move amid Russia's war in Ukraine and global energy strains, while it follows President Trump’s recent positive call with Vladimir Putin on ending the conflict.
