Corruption Scandal Threatens UDA Candidate in Key Kenyan By-Election.

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission accuses Muthende, the UDA candidate for Mbeere North on November 27, of masterminding flaws in a Sh643 million tender awarded to his firm Biomax Africa Limited for a Kenyatta National Hospital oxygen plant. Investigations uncovered forged documents, fake credentials, and mismatched equipment, leaving the plant non-functional and costing the hospital over Sh565 million in alternatives since 2022. Despite EACC recommending charges in June 2025 and his recent name change, IEBC cleared him—sparking outrage on X over UDA's choice and vetting lapses as the vote nears in Embu County.
