Museveni Wins Uganda Election for Seventh Term with 71.65% of Votes

Uganda's Electoral Commission announced on January 17 that Museveni secured 7.9 million votes, or 71.65%, against Bobi Wine's 2.7 million. Museveni thanked security forces in his speech, accused opponents of foreign-funded bribes, and noted many supporters stayed home. Regional leaders and the African Union congratulated him, as the country awaits potential protests or challenges.
