U.S. and Nigeria Kill Top ISIS Leader in Joint Lake Chad Strike

Presidents Trump and Tinubu confirmed the operation Saturday, which eliminated Abu-Bilal al-Minuki—also known as Abu-Mainok—along with several lieutenants in Nigeria's volatile Lake Chad Basin. The 44-year-old from Borno State led ISIS operations in media, weapons, drones, and provinces, with ties to the 2018 Dapchi schoolgirls kidnapping and attacks in the Sahel. Trump called it a meticulously planned mission that greatly diminishes ISIS globally, while Tinubu praised the partnership and troops on both sides. No friendly casualties occurred, marking a key win in U.S.-Africa counterterrorism.
