Germany Pledges €1 Million to East Africa for Ebola Response.

Germany announced €1 million through KfW to bolster East Africa's fight against a rare Bundibugyo Ebola strain, funding mobile labs, diagnostics, and training after an EAC ministers' meeting on June 1-2.

The outbreak, declared a WHO emergency on May 17, has hit Uganda with 16 cases and the DRC with over 1,000 suspected ones, raising risks for Kenya due to shared borders.

While officials praise the aid alongside U.S. support and Kenya's readiness with isolation sites, many locals voice suspicion, linking it to recent U.S. quarantine controversies.
