President William Ruto approved several
promotions and appointments in the Kenya Defence Forces, naming Major General
John Maiso Nkoimo as the new Deputy Commander of the Kenya Army, replacing
retiring Major General Mohamed Nur Hassan.
Nkoimo, who joined as a cadet in 1990 and served in
UN peacekeeping in Yugoslavia, takes over from his previous post as General
Officer Commanding Central Command.
Other changes include Brigadier Mohamud Salah Farah
as Deputy Air Force Commander, promotions for Brigadiers William Kamoiro and
Peter Kipketer Limo to Major General, and a one-year extension for Kenya Navy
Commander Major General Paul Owuor Otieno.
The reshuffle aims to strengthen operational readiness amid counter-terrorism and peacekeeping duties, with many online calling Nkoimo's rise well deserved.
