Two People Shot Dead in Nanyuki, Kenya, During Protests Against US Ebola Quarantine Facility at Laikipia Air Base

Protests erupted in Nanyuki against plans to establish a US-backed Ebola quarantine center at Laikipia Air Base, resulting in two people being shot dead amid clashes with security forces.

Kenyan President William Ruto defended the facility as part of Kenya's Ebola preparedness and health cooperation with the United States, despite a Kenyan High Court suspension following a petition by the Katiba Institute.

The US issued a travel advisory for its citizens in Kenya due to the demonstrations.
