Beijing
issued the statement after the Iran-backed Houthis announced an 'eye for an
eye' embargo targeting Saudi shipping in the Red Sea, retaliating for Yemen's
siege and a strike on Sanaa airport.
This follows recent missile and drone exchanges,
including Houthi attacks on Saudi territory on July 12-13, heightening risks to
the kingdom's oil exports.
China's plea aligns with its major oil imports from Saudi Arabia and past mediation between Riyadh and Iran, prioritizing stability for trade routes and Belt and Road projects.
