DCI Probes Ol Kalou By-Election Violence After UDA Loss

Kenya's DCI launched a probe into the July 16 violence that disrupted the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election, where DCP candidate Sammy Douglas Kamau Waweru Ngotho won decisively with 35,440 votes against UDA's 5,450.

 The attacks targeted voters, journalists, and stations, killing 30-year-old James Muigai Mwathi amid clashes involving pistols, rifles, and tear gas.

 MP Oscar Sudi accused rivals from ex-Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's camp, while Kiambaa MP John Njuguna Kawanjiku defended his presence near the group as a rescue effort, highlighting rifts in President Ruto's UDA ahead of 2027.
