On July 13 around 7 a.m. in
Biddeford, Maine, ICE agents surveilling an address for a removal order tried
to stop a vehicle that then attempted to flee, leading an agent to fire shots
that killed driver Joan Sebastian Guerrero.
Immigration advocates noted Guerrero
was authorized to work in the U.S. with a Social Security number, was not the
warrant's target, and left behind a family; witness videos showed agents
pulling his body from the car and handcuffing him.
Left-leaning voices called it excessive force against a legal resident; right-leaning ones saw it as self-defense.
