ICE Agent Kills Colombian Man in Maine Traffic Stop Gone Wrong

On July 13 around 7 a.m. in Biddeford, Maine, ICE agents surveilling an address for a removal order tried to stop a vehicle that then attempted to flee, leading an agent to fire shots that killed driver Joan Sebastian Guerrero.

Immigration advocates noted Guerrero was authorized to work in the U.S. with a Social Security number, was not the warrant's target, and left behind a family; witness videos showed agents pulling his body from the car and handcuffing him.

The incident prompted hundreds to protest in downtown Biddeford, chanting against ICE and Sen. Susan Collins, while officials including Maine's Attorney General launched investigations alongside the FBI.

Left-leaning voices called it excessive force against a legal resident; right-leaning ones saw it as self-defense.
