Iranian
state media reported that naval air defense systems intercepted and destroyed
the Low-cost Uncrewed Combat Attack System drone, a cheap U.S. weapon
reverse-engineered from Iran's own Shahed-136 model.
The
incident fits into a fierce U.S.-Iran war that began February 28, 2026, with
Operation Epic Fury targeting Iranian nuclear and military sites, met by Iran's
missile and drone barrages killing 16 Americans so far.
The U.S. has not confirmed the loss, while the conflict strains Gulf states and threatens oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz.
