Israel alerted the U.S. this week
to a specific Iranian plan to assassinate President Trump, sources told The
Wall Street Journal and CNN, reviving tensions from the 2020 killing of General
Qassem Soleimani.
The warning arrives as U.S. and
Iranian forces exchange strikes over the Strait of Hormuz, with Trump declaring
a fragile ceasefire over after attacks on U.S. sites in Bahrain, Qatar, and
Kuwait.
U.S. officials have not verified the intelligence independently, and some see it as Israeli influence on escalation decisions, while Trump alluded to being 'number one on their list' during a NATO summit.
