At a press conference during the
NATO summit in Ankara, Turkey, President Donald Trump announced the U.S.-Iran
ceasefire is over following U.S. strikes on Iranian military targets in Bandar
Abbas, Bushehr, and Kharg Island that killed eight personnel, while threatening
further actions including potential strikes on infrastructure and takeover of
Kharg Island oil hub.
Iran responded by suspending peace negotiations, threatening to close the Strait of Hormuz, and vowing retaliation at a two-to-one ratio, leading to oil price surges above $80 per barrel.
Trump also threatened to cut U.S.
trade with Spain over NATO contributions, made gaffes confusing Japan with Iran
and Zelenskyy with Putin, renewed demands for U.S. control of Greenland, and
expresse
d intent to remove Syria from the State Sponsors of Terrorism list.
