Kenya's
Director of Public Prosecutions told the High Court at Kibera that 31-year-old
teacher and blogger Albert Ojwang was deliberately assaulted and killed on June
8, 2025, a day after his arrest over social media posts accusing a top police
official of corruption.
The trial
opened Monday against former station commander Samson Talaam and five officers,
with evidence including tampered CCTV footage manually erased on orders,
recovered clips showing suspicious activity, and an autopsy confirming blunt
force trauma and neck compression.
Witnesses and forensics will trace Ojwang's final hours, amid public demands for broader accountability as the case exposes deep mistrust in law enforcement.
