Violence Shadows DCP Landslide in Kenya's Ol Kalou By-Election

Sammy Douglas Kamau Ngotho of the Democracy for Citizens Party won decisively with 35,440 votes against UDA's Samuel Muchina Nyagah's 5,450 in the July 16 by-election for the seat vacated by the late MP David Njuguna Kiaraho.

An NTV Kenya documentary revealed masked groups targeting voters, journalists, and DCP vehicles, with secret footage showing gunfire on election day and vehicles linked to state firms and UDA aides.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations launched a probe into the intimidation, including one reported death, as the contest exposed rifts between President Ruto's UDA and Rigathi Gachagua's DCP ahead of 2027 polls.
