Violence Disrupts Linda Mwananchi Events in Kisumu and Nyahururu, One Dead

On July 12, 2026, clashes erupted in Kisumu outside a church service attended by Siaya Governor James Orengo and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, leaving one person dead, several injured, nine motorcycles burned, and eight suspects arrested after police used tear gas.

In Nyahururu, stone-throwers disrupted a Linda Mwananchi rally, injuring local leader Joseph Gitau and prompting six more arrests.

The youth-led movement, pushing for anti-corruption and accountability before 2027 elections, drew condemnation from opposition figures who called the attacks state-sponsored, while police vowed impartial investigations into the rising political tensions.
