Iran Announces Penalties for Strait of Hormuz Transit Violations

Iran’s Persian Gulf Strait Authority released a blacklist of non-compliant vessels and warned that ships doing transfers with them could join it too.

Violators face restrictions like fines or seizure during later passages, while cargo owners are told to check the list before chartering.

The measures follow parliament's approval of fees for maritime services, amid clashing views on traffic volumes and U.S. claims of extortion tied to the Revolutionary Guard.
