The new field, named Takhteh or
Takht-e, holds about 5.7 trillion cubic feet of recoverable 'sweet' gas with
low impurities, plus valuable condensates—enough to match 15 years of output
from one phase of the South Pars field.
Paknejad urged immediate planning to develop it quickly and power local industries, potentially generating tens of billions in wealth.
This find follows last year's discovery in the same province and aims to help Iran rebound from recent conflicts that hit its energy infrastructure, bolstering its position as holder of the world's second-largest gas reserves.
