Iran's President Pezeshkian Arrives in Kyrgyzstan for SCO Summit

Pezeshkian departed Tehran on August 31 to attend the 26th SCO summit and SCO Plus meeting, where he'll hold bilateral discussions with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and leaders from Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.

Their first in-person Modi-Pezeshkian meeting follows phone calls on regional issues, with India focusing on energy security, Chabahar port, and safety in the Strait of Hormuz.

Before leaving, Pezeshkian stressed the SCO's role in countering unilateralism and affirmed Iran seeks no war but will respond decisively to aggression. He'll also join the World Nomad Games opening hosted by Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov.
