Violence Disrupts Opposition Rally in Homa Bay County

The Linda Mwananchi movement, supported by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, faced attacks during rallies in Kenya’s Homa Bay County, resulting in machete injuries, a ransacked hotel, and assaults on journalists.

Former Interior Secretary Fred Matiang’i accused the National Security Council and President William Ruto of knowing about the violence, while local leaders blamed Governor Gladys Wanga and MP Peter Kaluma.

The National Cohesion and Integration Commission condemned the unrest, urged peaceful assembly, and plans to summon those involved, highlighting tensions ahead of the 2027 elections.
