Anthropic's September 2026 report revealed it stopped a Category One operation using Claude to create 50 tweets per session, mimicking grassroots support for Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi over his Kenya Power tariff reversal.

The posts also claimed fractures in the United Opposition coalition, naming figures like Rigathi Gachagua and Uhuru Kenyatta, ahead of the 2027 election.

The effort stayed contained to fake accounts with no audience reach, stemming from a tip by another AI firm and showing no government ties, though its pro-administration tone aligned with ruling interests.
