Eric Omondi Arrested Collecting Signatures for Kenya Governance Overhaul

Omondi's 'Punguza Mzigo' campaign seeks to cut counties from 47 to eight, scrap the Senate and Women Reps, eliminate nominated leaders, and reduce MCAs to save taxpayer money for services like education. He had collected about 450,000 signatures from earlier stops in places like Kakamega and Mombasa, aiming for one million to force a referendum.

Police arrested him Monday near the National Archives for not notifying them about the public gathering, sparking online frustration over the move and debate on whether fewer regions could trim the wage bill without hurting services.
