The High Court ruled on September
18, 2026, that Felix Mecha Nyakundi, his wife Stellah Nyaboke Otwori, and
linked companies must forfeit assets worth KES 426.85 million to the
government.
These include bank balances,
high-value properties like Bantu Hotel in Nairobi and a Mombasa penthouse,
vehicles, and cash far exceeding Nyakundi’s modest salary of KES 69,660 to
115,630 monthly from 2013 to 2024.
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission hailed the civil recovery as a key move to reclaim public resources, with Kenyans noting the shocking wealth gap for a county official.
