Mercy Maina Wachinga, 32, was
discovered deceased in her Forhome Court apartment in an advanced state of
decomposition, about a month after her death, with signs pointing to suicide
including a locked door from inside, a charcoal burner, and a heartfelt note
expressing gratitude and final wishes like cremation or a river burial.
Her mother, Grace Nderitu, last spoke with her in early August without noticing distress, while neighbors remembered Mercy as warm and generous, even gifting children shortly before.
The case highlights urban isolation, as
discussions note how someone living alone can go unnoticed for weeks amid
apartment life where neighbors often stay strangers.
