Oracle Layoffs Hit Employees with Immediate Termination Notices

Oracle sent abrupt emails to employees announcing their roles were eliminated, effective immediately, as part of broader organizational changes tied to its AI and cloud expansion.

The cuts follow a prior reduction of 21,000 jobs and target some teams with double-digit percentages, while the company hires for data-center and AI roles amid $90-95 billion in planned capital spending.

Sweeney, a laid-off NetSuite analyst, wrote that technology should empower people, not make them disposable, as Oracle prioritizes profit and AI over its human workforce. The restructuring costs have risen to $2.8 billion, with shares dropping 4.4% after co-founder Larry Ellison canceled a major stock sale.
