Real Madrid's Raúl Asencio Convicted of Drunk Driving in Gran Canaria

The 23-year-old center-back, pulled over in San Bartolomé de Tirajana, registered 0.90 and 0.88 mg/l of alcohol in exhaled air—well over Spain's 0.25 mg/l limit and into criminal range above 0.60 mg/l. He admitted the facts in a quick trial three days later, accepting an eight-month driving ban and a €14,400 fine.

Real Madrid opened a disciplinary probe, with manager José Mourinho voicing strong disappointment: 'I am NOT happy with Raúl Asencio... What you do outside HURTS the image of the club.' No accident occurred, and Asencio, a club academy product who debuted in 2024, stays with the squad for now.
