Uganda's Chief of Defence Forces
Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba announced that all government ministers must get his
permission before traveling abroad, after stating he did not clear Minister
Haruna Kyeyune Kasolo's recent visit to Türkiye for trade and diplomatic talks.
He introduced a 30 million shilling fine for violations, with proceeds to fund road infrastructure, and directed the Finance Ministry to enforce it immediately.
While some praise the push for
accountability, critics question the legal basis for a military leader imposing
such rules on ministers, amid his growing public influence as President Yoweri
Museveni's son.
