Uhuru
stepped down as Jubilee Party leader on Tuesday, following a High Court ruling
on retired presidents' roles, and named Matiang'i his successor ahead of the
National Delegates Convention.
He reaffirmed that Odinga got the votes in 2022, crediting their 2018 handshake alliance, and pledged to advise as a senior party member.
Matiang'i accepted humbly, calling the moment emotional, as the party eyes the 2027 elections with mixed reactions from supporters and critics.
