The U.S.
Treasury sanctioned 10 individuals and entities under Operation Economic
Outcast for procuring weapons and parts for Iran's Ministry of Defense and
Armed Forces Logistics. Targets include Seyyed Asghar Alizadeh Tabatabai,
MODAFL's Beijing representative, Iran-based Kavoshcom Asia R and D Group for
UAV and missile components, and a Pakistan defense firm led by Waseem Pasha
Tajammal with links in Saudi Arabia and Türkiye.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the actions disrupt support for Iran's military programs, building on the operation launched August 24 to isolate the regime's enablers. The sanctions freeze U.S.-linked assets and risk secondary penalties for foreign banks involved.
