Kenya Confirms First Imported Ebola Case and Death

Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale announced the first imported Ebola case: a Kenyan citizen traveled by road from DRC to Kampala, then flew into Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on October 3 via Jambojet flight 8523. He passed initial screening but soon showed symptoms like fever, fatigue, sore throat, and bleeding, leading to confirmation at the National Virology Reference Laboratory.

The patient died Monday evening despite treatment; officials have identified 28 contacts and are tracing 23 passengers plus four crew for monitoring, with enhanced surveillance in place to prevent spread.
