IEBC Summons UDA's Hassan Omar Over Deceased Voters Remarks

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission summoned UDA Secretary-General Hassan Omar to appear on October 21 in Nairobi over statements he made at a Mombasa rally on September 11 suggesting deceased voters could participate. The IEBC cited the Electoral Code of Conduct and stressed that all must uphold the law to foster peace ahead of 2027.

Meanwhile, former Chief Justice David Maraga welcomed MP Caleb Amisi to a new coalition pushing electoral reforms like a clean voter register and accountable IEBC staff, while parties face a October 15 deadline to submit authorized signatories.
