The Energy
and Petroleum Regulatory Authority raised super petrol by Sh12.93 to Sh226.96
per litre in Nairobi, diesel by Sh9.90 to Sh227.76, and kerosene by Sh28.49 to
Sh219.87, effective October 15 to November 14, 2026. The increases stem from an
11.81 percent jump in imported fuel costs due to global market trends like
Middle East tensions.
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua accused President William Ruto of ordering the rises to fund 2027 election bribes via Gulf Energy, while MP Ndindi Nyoro and the Motorists Association demand audits, subsidies, and protests against the added strain on living costs.
