Kenya Secures Health Partnerships at UNGA81

At the 81st United Nations General Assembly, Kenya advanced its health goals through a key partnership with Türkiye to build Uwezo Hospitals in six counties: Taita Taveta, Isiolo, Homa Bay, Nandi, Nairobi, and Uasin Gishu. These centers will specialize in maternal and pediatric care, with Türkiye funding infrastructure and Kenya providing land and operations via the Social Health Authority.

Discussions also covered climate-resilient healthcare, support from the Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation for digital platforms and rehab services, and pushes for self-reliant pharmaceutical manufacturing in Africa, led by Principal Secretary Dr. Ouma Oluga.
