Kenyan roller skater Kevin Kiarie won gold in the freestyle battle at the
International Skating Challenge in Cotonou, Benin, in April 2026, but the Kenya
Federation of Roller Skating is investigating him for competing without
registration or authorization.
Kiarie counters with evidence of
past federation visits to his club and his professional sports license, while
disputing claims of support and highlighting undelivered funds despite ministry
allocations like KSh 641,900 for events. The dispute has fueled online questions
about sports governance and athlete funding, with Kiarie calling it
demoralizing for young talents.
