Manchester United Fines Lisandro Martínez for Criticizing Club Hierarchy

Manchester United fined defender Lisandro Martínez for his post-match comments criticizing limited summer spending and technical director Jason Wilcox following a 2-0 loss to Atletico Madrid.

He met with manager Michael Carrick and directors, then issued a public apology, calling it a moment of frustration from the wrong time and place, and stressing unity for better performance.

Steven Gerrard praised his honesty but said it doesn't help ahead of Leeds and urged private talks instead. The club views the matter closed, with Carrick noting a strong training session Friday as they shift focus to results.
