University
of Nairobi students disrupted traffic on Waiyaki Way and Uhuru Highway with
protests against a lecturers' strike now in its third week, sparked by the
2025–2029 bargaining agreement and the university's Sh20 billion debt crisis.
They called for Education CS Julius Ogamba's
resignation amid unpaid staff and halted lectures across public universities.
While Ogamba urged unions to resume classes per court orders and noted partial payments, observers warn of long-term damage without a funding solution; MP Babu Owino visited to discuss support.
