Arsenal secured a vital 3-2 win at Stamford Bridge, taking the aggregate lead into February's return leg at the Emirates. Ben White headed the early opener from Rice's corner, Viktor Gyökeres added a second, and Martin Zubimendi restored the cushion before Alejandro Garnacho's late brace for Chelsea.
Rice earned Player of the Match for his
commanding display, while Chelsea's Liam Rosenior saw positives despite errors
from Robert Sánchez and missed chances. Arsenal's midfield duo and solid
defense from William Saliba and Gabriel proved decisive in their third straight
win over Chelsea.
