Florentino Pérez won re-election with 65% of the
vote, extending his leadership until 2030, and immediately announced Mourinho's
return as head coach on a three-year deal through 2029.
The 63-year-old Portuguese manager, who led Madrid
from 2010 to 2013, comes back after stints at Chelsea, Manchester United,
Tottenham, Roma, and Benfica, driven by unfinished Champions League business
from his first spell.
This move follows a trophyless 2025-26 season with multiple coaches, aligning with Pérez's campaign promises of big signings amid fan excitement.
