President Donald Trump nominated Wooster, a career Senior Foreign
Service officer with decades of experience, to serve as U.S. ambassador to
Kenya on June 1, 2026.
The position has been vacant since Meg Whitman's resignation after
Trump's re-election, with Susan M. Burns handling duties as chargé d'affaires
since August 2025.
Wooster's background includes ambassadorship in Jordan and recent
work in Haiti, aligning with U.S.-Kenya cooperation on counterterrorism,
regional stability, and trade. Confirmation by the Senate would restore a
full-time ambassador after over 18 months.
