IEBC Warns of Postponing Ol Kalou By-Election Over Bribery and Violence

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission cautioned it may delay or scrap Thursday's Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election in Nyandarua County due to reports of late-night campaigning, material destruction, and handouts like gas cylinders and mattresses.

Nine candidates, including UDA's Samuel Muchina Nyagah backed by President Ruto and DCP's Sammy Ngotho linked to Rigathi Gachagua, are vying to replace the late MP David Njuguna Kiaraho.

Tensions pit Ruto allies against Gachagua's camp, with opposition figures decrying state-funded inducements worth billions and calling for violator disqualifications, while IEBC probes complaints amid security concerns.
